IFER has been privileged to represent the Araretama Rainforest Essences in the UK since 1998. Founded in 1991 by Sandra Epstein in Brazil, the Araretama Essences convey the light and shadows of the Atlantic Rainforest on the northeast coast of Brazil. Sandra Epstein Sandra is a deeply gifted innovator in the essence realm, with her intuition leading her to make essences with all manner of plant beings (ancestral trees, bromeliads, saps, lichens, mushrooms, lianas, as well as flowers) found within the rich and diverse rainforest. A deep sense of communion, based on the respect for differences, maintains this forest as a planetary treasure. A dear friend, Sandra taught seminars in Milland in the years before IFER relocated to the Isle of Gigha, and she also participated and presented at the 2nd mini-conference on essences which IFER hosted on Gigha in 2006.

Although reduced to 5% of it's original cover, the Atlantic Rain Forest remains of extreme importance. For the people who live within its domain - in cities and villages as well as native Indian communities - it regulates the flow of water resources, safeguards and revitalizes the soil's fertility, regulates the climate and protects the peaks and slopes of the plateaux and escarpments of the mountain ranges. In addition to preserving and integrating an immense historical and cultural heritage, the region also bears witness to peoples lost in remote time, in the archaeological monuments that maintain the history of tribes that lived in the region thousands of years ago. The Atlantic rainforest is a biological reserve, an environmental heritage site for all humanity because of the area's enormous biodiversity and the vast amount of plant and animal species, many of which are endemic to the region. This means that in any given area the Atlantic Forest contains more bacteria, microscopic fungus, protozoa and algae than in an equivalent area of European or North America soil. This in turn signifies an immense contribution to medicine, agriculture, and industry and for the ecological balance of the planet .

The Atlantic Rain Forest domain extends along the Brazilian coast from the state of Rio Grande do Norte, south to the state of Rio Grande do Sul, and has witnessed a geological history that includes the formation of glaciers, lakes, deserts and volcanoes and has passed through innumerable phases of erosion. These phenomena have resulted in the formation of some of Brazil's most spectacular scenery, including the caverns of the Ribeira Valley, the escarpments of the Serra dos Órgaos range, the Iguaçu Falls, and the eroded sandstone rock formations of Vila Velha in the state of Minas Gerais.

If you have not yet experienced the inner journey of healing which these amazing essences are able to unfold within, then we highly recommend giving them a try. Through the essences and combinations Sandra has created an entire educational system for the emotional dimension.

Lately, Sandra has also been making further essences on Fernando de Noronha, a conservation island and archipelago some 225 miles off the NE coast of Brazil. This is one of the very special places where for thousands of years sea turtles have come to lay their eggs. An extraordinary environment, Sandra reports that the energy of the island is very strong. Her essence which is called Noronha was made at the beach where the sea turtles lay their eggs.
